Last week Training magazine announced and recognized the top 125 organizations that excel at employee development at a gala event at the Training 2015 Conference & Expo in Atlanta, Georgia.
Genentech, Inc. (a Career Systems International client) received a 2015 Best Practice Award for their innovative and successful CareerLab – a resource supporting career aspirations of all employees. The CareerLab empowers employees to own their own career and understand the organization’s current and future needs. It provides guidance, support, and resources to help employees grow and develop.
The core services offered in the CareerLab includes: one-on-one career consultations in person, via phone or on Skype; webinar and classroom sessions; formal mentoring program; online career assessments; and short career videos designed to inspire employees to think differently about their careers.
The results of Genentech’s CareerLab are impressive!
- Employee turnover rate is 6.2% compared to industry average of 11%.
- Almost half of the job openings are sourced with internal candidates.
- Approximately $20 million in retention cost savings was realized in 2014 when the CareerLab helped find new roles for 76 high potential employees whose positions were being eliminated.
